Here’s some inspiration from Mattie at Future Forests, sent out in advance of National Tree Week ~ 19th-26th March.

National Tree Week Planting Day

March 2023 Planting

As part of National Tree Week, we arranged a planting day in March – our last for the spring with the end of the bareroot season. And we had a fabulous (if somewhat muddy!) time with the awesome exchange students from The Clearwater School in the USA. It was such a great opportunity to learn, share, make friends and play. WCSS students are working on fundraising for a return visit Seattle and we really look forward to more exchanges!

You can help fund the exchange by planting a tree with us – find out more here.

And Happy International Day of Forests!

This year’s theme is Healthy Forests for Healthy People.

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 March the International Day of Forests (IDF) in 2012.

The Day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests. On each International Day of Forests, countries are encouraged to undertake local, national and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns.

The theme for each International Day of Forests is chosen by the Collaborative Partnership on Forests.

And Lastly …

Mattie sent out a short video update while he prepared what was to be planted – how and why he chooses what he chooses.
