Partners for Microwilding

WCSS has teamed up with Future Forests nursery. Our mission is to reforest small pockets of native Irish woodland and raise funds for our school. These woodlands will become arks for wildlife, be left to grow for posterity and do all the amazing things that trees and woodlands do.

We are part of a movement towards a very different model of education, where students have an equal part in the democratic running of the school itself and where they decide what, when and how they learn.

Mattie Keane

Future Forests

I have been involved in horticulture for over 30 years and love to support initiatives that get young people out in nature and planting. To raise funds for a great school while doing this is a win for everyone.

With years of business expertise behind us we have established strong relationships with growers and suppliers in Ireland and beyond. As our name suggests, the future is important to us. As growers, educators and innovators we believe we have the responsibility to protect and ensure the future of our diverse landscape and environment. Our intention is to leave a legacy that our future ancestors will be proud of. We’d love to support you to do so too.

What We Do

At Future Forests we are passionate about sourcing and supplying some of the best plants in Europe. We are one of Ireland’s leading mail order plant suppliers and we have a nursery and garden centre in West Cork.

We pride ourselves on the diversity of the plants we offer. From native trees & hedging to perennial flowers and alpines our huge range caters for the new garden owner to the seasoned grower.

We are engaged in the community – we also work with schools, community groups, country estates, landscapers and the farming community helping to source and select the right plants for all locations and situations.

We supply bareroot plants from November to April and a large variety of potted plants all year around.

Supporting WCSS

Here at Future Forests, we are delighted to support this campaign.

In a time of climate crisis, we feel that many people are looking for a tangible, real way to help the environment.

Many people do not have the land to plant, and this campaign gives people a chance to do one of the best things you can do – to plant trees.

From our side, we are providing all the trees completely free of charge. We will use our expertise to select the best and most suitable trees for each site.

Our kids also attend this fantastic school. The world needs free thinkers and this form of democratic education is helping our kids to find their voices.

March 2023 Planting
As part of National Tree Week, we arranged a planting day in March – our last for the spring with the end of the bareroot season. And we had a fabulous (if somewhat muddy!) time with the awesome exchange students from The Clearwater School.
PAT Planting Jan 2023
Sunday was a brilliant day for planting – with our terrific volunteers from WCSS and Future Forests.
